I'm new to this site and thought it would be interesting to exchange information about decent launch sites. I normally fish a few spots off Sandy Hook, Atlantic Highlands and the Navasink/Shrewsbury.. I'd like to have some suggestions for Long Branch to Deal, but before posting specific spot locations, thought I would check the sensitivity of this topic. For the regulars, is this something that is openly posted, or better emailed etc.... ??

You'll hear different "launch areas" but in the end any water you can reach along the coast or bay via cart and that is leagal is a good launch spot.

I for One don't Post Only a Few Secreat Spots, The rest are on this site, BUT there are some that are sensitive to the locals who live near them, and One or more that Member Kayakers had problems at , And we do not need bad Public Relations, That close down these spots, plus Lurkers that do not register, Thats why you see me post [ http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gifsecreat spots http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif there are a few that are hidden in Prime areas , and only one other member Knows where they are Except for One secreat spot, thats in your front Yard ,Do you Reconize it in this photo http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif BillW

long branch launch site is right at the end of seaview ave off of rt 35 at the end of the street where the "light house strollos ice cream store" is there is a parking lot there and the launch to the beach is 50 ft. in Deal you can launch right in front of the flume in front of deal lake. Bill that picture that you took looks like monmounth beach during the fall blitzes.lololol http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the specific recommendations.. one of the spots that I like to launch is Sandy Hook, Chokecherry (summer) 2nd parking lot, beach side. Its no secret, plenty of boats off shore and lots of surf casters and other kayakers welcome on the beach to distract the volunteers... They are fairly enthusiastic about protecting the imaginary STOP lines extending down to, even, the low tide line. Perhaps some kayakers trying further up the beach can inform us if fishing nude would give access to more of the uncrowded beaches of SH? http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Went out last Sunday by the Oceanic Bridge, well known spot. The water brown, full of seaweed and jelly fish and lots of boat traffic. Not very interesting...

Recent rains have caused the water to be off colored and weedy. I would look at launching near the end of the Hook where the water changes with the ocean for now. Plus the back is warm now look at night for a worm hatch near Rocky Point. Heard they were doing the crabs at the "bridge" and it is a good fluke spot with a white bucktail and a strip of bluefish or live line a snapper around the bridge...won't catch many but the ones you do catch are a good size.
