Ok, I know I shouldn't be posting this here since I wasn't on my yak, but there is a yak fisher in the picture(yellow Tarpon 120 below my right elbow is MZim). I got there late and my little brother and a friend were bugging me to join them on my dad's boat, so given the windy conditions and wanting to spend some time fishing with people that I neglected all this year since I got my Prowler, I decided to join them on the boat. Picked up this decent Chain Pickerel while we were out. I called MZim when we arrived and he got a big Pickerel as well.

Yak or not, that's a nice fish. What did you catch it on?

I got it on the new large buzzbait I've been experimenting with for Muskie this summer. It's 3/4 oz with a 6" Mr. Twister(knock off)in pearl. Total length on it is 8.5". White head and I replaced the white skirt with a hefty salt-and-pepper(also called ghost or minnow)translucent skirt.
So far, it's definitely picked up nothing but big fish. So far, I got a 20" and 21" bass on it as well. I also used it this past Friday morning too and picked up another 25" Pickerel on it as well as two smaller pickerel, but they were on smaller white spinnerbaits instead of this buzzbait. This one was cool because we were all looking when I cast it in no more than 2.5' of water, started the retrieve, and we saw it leave its roost under a pad, charge it and slam it.
Even though it's a buzzbait, I don't retrieve it fast enough to buzz, just enough to turn the blades and keep it a little under the surface. So far, that's the only time I've hooked up on it, never when buzzing it high on the surface. Not sure why that is yet.
BD, Here is my fish story from the weekend, I too have been using more spinnerbaits on muskies, this was a tandem willow leaf model (Grinder). I threw it up into some reeds start retrieving and see the fin coming from about 50', Ok here it is, then the fin disappears, I keep reeling waiting ....., as it gets closer to the boat I see the follow, well over 50" probably about 55" running out of line get into the figure 8 and then watch him turn around and head back, hence the fish story!! We raised 6 had one small one on that we let throw the lure. Looks like they are not quit ready to bite yet. Talked to others lots of follows, it is close though. We stuck around tossed a couple of other lures at the mama, left and came back... did not see it again. The hunt continues.

http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Man, I gotta get myself up that way one of these days. I've never even seen anything close to that size around these parts.
