View Full Version : Radiation?
Is there any chance of receiving any radiation from a transducer? I'm thinking of mounting my transducer under the kayak seat (sik) and just wondered? Thanks, and Good Fishing, Mac

There is no radiation produced by a transducer. The sun is what we need to worry about as far as our health is concerned. (and of course not trying to extract oxygen from the water with the fishes)
Since we are on the subject. A cellphone will give you more health problems than a transducer will. http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
Perhaps more to the point.....what is emitted by a transducer?

The worst that can happen is that it disintegrates any kidney stones you may be carrying around while eliminating the plaque from your teeth. http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
As my grandfather taught me, the best time to fish is when you can.

JoeB,
You really should answer it because inevitably it will be your job to know the answer to any question anyone asks you regardless of your proficiency, knowledge, or training.
The important part is that you don't believe you know the answer.
Welcome to your profession!
Someday God will explain the universe to me ... while I'm waiting I'll go fishing

Mount your transducer as far forward as you can this way you see where your going not where you been http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif Now as far as radiation goes a Magna II Sonar unit trans. has Freq. of 192 kHz with a output power of 275 watts. [peak to peak] which is [typ.] 34.4watts.[RMS] However in order to go thru the epilimnion to the hypolimion to find the thermocline you may have to turn the power up to gain the most senstivity in order to achieve this, However the sound waves may distort the cone angles depending on the Concentration of the sound energy, And This is all Dependent on the power input voltage of 10-15vDC and no more of a current drain of 350 ma [lights off] or 500 ma [lights on ]!!!! THE sumation of this is if you are supistible to Crabs,Jock Itch, Heat Rash,Yeast Infections, Hair Falling out or Impotance, or Erectal Disfuction, Headaches, Nausia, Black Outs, Dizzyness, Or the screen on the unit is dark you have the transducer upsidedown http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif And as far as JOE B goes he aint practicing Med yet. its not a science http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif and KEN L OR ED top this one without using a Fluxcompasitor chip reducing transmicro magnetic battery Holder. http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif BillW
