This should be a competitive rodeo and a good chance for the paddlers to shine. No fish will be brought in from the Venice or Lake Charles areas. This gives us a better chance against the motors. I will be fishing Fri. by paddle and Sat. and Sun by motor. Hope to see some of you there.

I actually have a friend coming in from Florida to fish this with me. You know, this is a great opportunity for the next Paddlepalooza . It's short notice but sounds like we already have a small crew going down.

It would be TOO COOL if a couple of you guys could take home trophies with fish caught on a paddlecraft. GO FOR IT!!!

The only thing that I don't like about any of the Grand Isle Rodeo's is that it's almost like a "Spring Break" atmosphere -
- Just based on my past experiences you have a ton of people ... VERY ROWDY and normally pretty drunk ... I have seen a lot of hostility and little patience ... and the TRAFFIC was very bad.
Again, this was a few yrs ago at a Grand Isle Rodeo durning the summer time - Maybe it was just a bad day / event that one time that I went - but it was anything but "laid back".
In the past I have had a few friends go down there just to hang out and look at the fish and they said pretty much the same - mainly about how bad the TRAFFIC was -
However, I agree that would be awesome for a yaker to place in one of the catagories.

The Tarpon Rodeo definetly is accompanied by lots of partying and drinking (difference?), but the trout and redfish are not nearly as springbreak like IMO.

I think the one that I went to was the Tarpon Rodeo - I want to say that it was in July or August ?

It really doesn't matter either way to me. I'm going to get there at 5 am anyway and I doubt any boats weill be fishing anywhere near me. By the time their drunk, I'll be having lunch and headed back home. They can party, I want to fish http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

we go to do both. Its a good time both on the water and off. The Tarpon Rodeo is always the last full weekend in July. This is a big time party weekend. This rodeo will have alot of fisherman and partiers. With out the both of them the island would not be what it is today.

The Tarpon Rodeo is not nearly as rowdy as it used to be. The Jefferson Parish Police have really cut down on the under age drinking as well as some of the naked ladies. Think I am kidding but I swear to you that it is true. We have a group us that go every year and it is really better but I would still leave my wife at home.
