Cuda Fest at Convoy Point (http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=25.463487,-80.334891&z=15&t=h&hl=en)
Saturday July 5th, 7:00Am Launch

Tides- Perfect
Low 7:58 AM -0.1
High 1:17PM 1.9

Come one come all, anybody can catch Cudas here. The tides are prefect for an opportunity to see and maybe even catch other species, but Cudas will be the main attraction.

Bait of choice could be anything, no restrictions, Cuda will eat anything that moves fast.

Can't predict the weather, but if we all look to the skies and wish upon a cloud maybe good things will happen.

Getting there is easy, Convoy Point (http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=25.463487,-80.334891&z=15&t=h&hl=en), click the link.

TurnPike to Speedway Blvd., South to 328th st. (5 minutes), Left on 328th, thriugh the 4-way, you come to a hump/bridge that crosses over the canal, hook an immediate left then right into the Convoy. BNP headquarters, follw the road around, when you see a stack/rack of canoes and kayaks you are there.
Unload, drop in, paddle N. through or around the 2 little islands, don't wait to start casting... cross the canal/channel and you be on a nice grass flat. Look left you'll see croc-rock.

Luna, you and the French <STRIKE>maid</STRIKE> honey gota be there you're the main attraction, besides I want taht book fer my mama.

RR, Why the Disco we want to see the new yak?

Rats!!!! Not the ones Luna hunts naked, but the kind in rats I can't make it. I'm sitting here in miami everglades campground(on the suggestion of Luna himself, nice place by the way) and need to be in Key West on the 3rd. Have reservations at Boyd's Campground for four days.

Any suggestions for good yaking and fishing in that area. Can't be too deep because we both are in hobies!!!!!

Rhino and Mrs. Rhino stopped by the hacienda yesterday after "work" and we tipped a beer and some fine rum together. They stayed in Pennekamp last night and then will be in Boyd's campground near Key West for the rest of their stay. They're towing their travel trailer with two matching red Hobie Outbacks on the truck cab. http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I was seriously considering getting a Dorado but opted for the Trident because of price and time ... never got to test one.

Well, here’s the “Honest Abe” report for yesterday. Arrived at Convoy Point at 06:55 A.M. and met up with Krash and Steve. Headed for the flat north of the launch as there was a flats boat stalking fish in the area. However, as I was going past the canal right next to the two islets, there was a lot of action on the jetty there—bait fish being chased by something (probably jacks). Spent 15 minutes there and had just one bite. I then started paddling north along the flats looking for permit and bonefish. Paddled all the way to just some 200 yards south of Black Point and “nada.” Did not see a single tail. All I saw was a small croc in the water. As I approached the Black Point area, I saw someone in a kayak fishing along the shoreline. Soon it was clear that he was on a Hobbie as I could hear all the noise from the pedaling. http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif

Spoke to the guy for about a minute or two. He said that he was coming from Black Point and that he, too, had seen nothing at all nor had had a hit. By this time, it was around 09:15 A.M. and high tide was starting to come in. I decided to head back south toward Convoy Point hoping that things would improve. In the vicinity of Fender Point, I met up with Luna and his French Honey. As always, she was there to make him look good! http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif They had nothing significant to report. The three of us proceeded to paddle slowly back toward CP, casting along the way—nada.

We then proceeded to link up with Krash and the others. I think they caught a snapper and some small cudas.

We were out of the water at around 12 noon as the afternoon showers were making their way inland. http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/storm.gif http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/storm.gif

Very nice pics, Fishhead! http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/the_wave.gif

Krash had the most exciting day in his life! http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif He had a chance to hear my Disco (he never saw it!) as it went by him and LunaSea at "warp speed" on the way to the launch ramp. http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif He then borrowed my Onno and went paddling with it--I think I waited for an hour before he came back! http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/rofl.gif Well, that's how long the five minutes or so he had with the paddle seem to have been. Anyway, I told him that I've had it for about three years. I have used the Onno as a stakeout pole and to push off of nasty rocks, mangroves, etc., etc. Never had a problem with it. I told Krash that if he orders one, Patrick will first have a nice conversation with him to ascertain his specific fishing needs, etc., and then design the paddle based on those needs. If Krash decides to criticize the paddle, well, at least, he tested it first.

In short, it was a skunk day for me, but the exercise and the company were great!! And that's all that counts!!

As everyone else was hauling azzz to get out ofthe water due to the possible onslought of the rapidly approaching water spout and storms, I still wanted to give that Onno paddle you hear so much abot a try.

RR came running down the ramp with it in hand saying here give this a try. RR is a Reel gentelman when it comes to sharing.

I strapped my step up from an el-cheapo paddle, an Aqua-Terra to the side of the yak and grabbed the Onno.

On my first touch it immediately felt like air, RR told me his story about abusing it so I instintivly jammed a blade into the rocks and pushed off, turned and headed straight into the storm.

My first few strokes whiffed the water as the paddle feels like its filled with helium. The paddle worked flawlessly with the exception that its for to short for my long arms.
I headed into the center of the water spout and quickly dispatched it with the help of the Onno, and saved the day and possibly the lives of many back at the ramp. Its possible there was a time warp but almost an hour later when I returned to Convoy I was surprised to see all the Derelicts still washing down the Dorados and Discos
.
I thanked RR for the opportunity to use such a superior peice of equipment and I now understand why that Disco is so fast. I did not want to embarass or make Luna feel bad asking him to put the now freshly washed Dorado back in the water as he knew I wanted to paddle it with that freakin Onno

I may be calling Patrick some day soon.

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>
