Proposal for Extra Swap Flies

Here's an idea for those extra flies that we tied that were going to be awarded at the Fishing Day.

Everyone who has participated in the fly swaps goes into a raffle. Each raffle that you participated in gets you one ticket. So the more swaps you've done the better your chances. Names are then drawn to determine who gets what. I'll go sort out the groups now and the each person drawn, in order, will have a choice. I won't draw the tickets. I'll have someone like Surfacetension or Polo do it the next time one of the comes over as neither is involved in the Swap or the raffle. Hoe does this sound to you guys?

That's a good idea though I think picking a day to meet with everyone there to fish and then draw a name sounds like more fun. But this could work too....I vote for anything that we all agree on. Besides I could use another JimW yellow Clouser, then there's Stan's little peanut bunker, of course Jon's bunker fly, swanny's black slider was a hit, crab flys were great..oh, some more shrimp flys as well, Salvy and others.....count me in for sure!

It's terrible up here agian. Cold and wet. I've not turned a plug in a dgos age. We just finished the Mater Bedroom and bathroom addition, and now we are working on the boys' rooms. So......it's going to be a bit longer. Hoepfully gettin a new shed, 12x20ft and then moving my garage into it. This will free up some space for me to get turning again. Also in the process of setting up afly tying area. Mostly for bass stuff and SW. Got it all, just need the space and time. S

Getting everyone form the swaps together and choosing is a great idea but the decade might end first. We need to be real.

I like Saltys idea about the meet'n'fish the best.

Jons is okay with me also.

Here's another idea.......I belive we had 4 swaps....take all the extra flies, randomly put them toghether into 4 different groups to mix them up a bit.....then send one each to the three guys who ran the swaps & one for Jon for their extra efforts.

I like the way that guys thinks but to be fair Jon's idea is best and workable. Jon, just follow your instincts and send them out. In the fall I'll do my best to get all the fly rodders (any anyone else on the board) to meet for a day of fishing. With the cool weather we may start to see some good fishing very soon.

I also like the meet'n'fish idea. And for those that would not be able to meet'n'fish can have there names thrown in a hat by posting they want to be included into the drawing. Then after the meet'n'fish a name gets pulled from the hat and we will have a winner.

You could pick 3 or 4 names and make more guys happy with all those flies. Site sign up for the drawing(s) and draw another name or high hook from the guys who show. That guy gets to take home all the warriors that worked or a pick from everybody's box.

I don't fish flies that I get in swaps. I keep them for examples and the one's I like I copy/modify. I'm really glad that I do this as I have an original 10x10 slider and since Kenny's gone now its a constant reminder of him.

We'll give this a couple more days and then decide what to do.

I like the idea of Swap guys in the drawing ONLY because they were the ones that took the time to tye. I found the guys on the Swaps easy going, talented and willing to help others...so let's go with that plan. If Joey or anyone wants some flys I'll take care of him when we meet, I carry extras all the time.

Another suggestion as it will increase chances. Let me know what you guys think. Once a participants name is drawn they are no longer eligible for additional drawings. Since we have 4 drawings and 13 participants the odds are fairly good. If we adopt this then 3 of 13 of us will get flies.
