After a string of good trips, it was bound to happen.

Got home from work at 6:30 last night, threw the boat in the truck, headed to the lake. Too rough so down to Lake rd. to try the bayou for the first time this year. 7 pm, fishing my way to the mouth, no luck, and then at the second cut, the bass are playing smash mouth in the pond. Sweet, get my box, nope, left the frogs and buzz baits at the house. find a gold spoon in my lone tray, 1st cast hung on some crab trap, then the trap moves. Fattest marsh bass in my career starts head shaking. got him to the boat and he quick releases my spoon as i try to lip him, easy 3, maybe 3.5 lbs. oh well.

Man, i LOOOOOVE fishing. Back to the bayou, to the mouth. 2 boats are there, so i start to drift back up, missed two solid strikes. Just couldn't get a hook in a fish. Dark settles so back to the truck.

Up at 3:30 this am, do some work, boat is still in truck so might as well fish. Dead calm at my house, go to the park, blowing from the south???? 4 miles away??????? I'm in the water at 5:45, paddle out, nothing... change color baits, ist cast miss a strike on the fall... man i've got to stop daydreaming... five more minutes, nothing... let's try inside the piles... 1st cast, feel the bump, Bill Dance hookset... and now I own a 2-piece Allstar.

Back at the truck for 6:15. Like I said, my mojo broke-down. Hope ya'll catch lots of fish this weekend... Greg

Greg,

How's my prowler working out for ya? I hope you like it. I already regret selling it http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif .

Should have kept it so I have two kayaks!

The tide will be running out around 3 pm..let me know if you want to do some fishin...gonna get some live minnows and see if I can get a red or two. Scarp,

The good news is that your next trip will almost assuredly be a better one.

Sorry about the rod. When/Where are services to be held? Perhaps we can attend. http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Troy,

i love the boat... been out in flat water to two foot chop, thoroughly pleased, glad you parted with it.

Stever,

i made a commitment for monday afternoon already, but if the lake is flat, i might have to change plans... it'll be a last minute decision, sorry.

YAL

no ceremony, but after reading one of your other posts, I realized that now I have a 5' trolling rod, although i'm not much for lead core line.

Headed to the causeway in the am if the wind is calm. I have to be at work by late morning, so it'll be a quick one. I'll be there in the dark if anyone's game...

Good Fishing. Greg

I would like to know too...what would be nice is if one could launch on that little beach area next to the condos..went and scoped it out..can get back there but they have private driveway signs posted..I could just see unloading the yak and some old bag comes out of her condo shaking her fist and yelling at me. http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
