http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/fishing.gif OOOOOO A WAVE HELLO WITH A SIGN!!!! http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/images/maps/welcome_sign.gifLove the new smileys first off!!!

Ok but really folks. Firstly, I picked up some of this TUFF LINE sold here on KFS. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a GOOD Reel/line spooler. All that ever comes up in search a engine is that cheapo berkley thing you clamp the real to and the line spool, I have one, and hate it.

Second, these breakaway clips for terminal tackle, anyone use them, feedback. I pulled one up the otherday attached to about 50yds of line while surf fishing. Looks interesting, so I was just wondering.

Third, I have flush mount rod holders in my P13, just behind the seat(standard place). Is there a recomended type of plastic pipe or commercial kit to get my rods up away from the water.Fresh Water wasnt an issue, but I do see what yooz are saying about getting them up and away from the salty water.

Lastly, or fouthly, and I know the namesake is probably enough that some may want to smack me, but are you supposed to attach a sand or blood worm to a Tube-n-worm setup? Or is it just called that because it looks like a worm? Are these berkley gulp tasty baits(whatevah) suitable?

That is all. I appologize for spelling grammar etc. I look forward to see what folks have to say. Also, I am already feeling that itch for the Jamaica Bay tourney. I will be a first timer entry, so I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you. Until Then, be well and Happy Holidays!

Jay,

The guys up here on the north Shore of Mass use sand worms on the tube. I've read about some guys using the Berkely worms, but no experience. I bought some and never used them, but next year..........

We've used the sand worms very successfully on the CT coast. I tried the Berkely a little and caught a couple of very little fish. Probably didn't give it a fair shake.

I couldnt find a decent line spooler that wasnt either plastic junk or expensive. I built one out of angle straps, threaded bolt, wingnuts and a board. Those breakaway clips are a regular surf fishing item. Check the Florida Surf Fishing home page, Frosty sells them there I believe. They come so small you can reel them up thru the guides of a regular inshore casting rod. They call them 'gemini clips'. I used 1 1/4" Thick walled PVC pipe to extend my rod holders. signaturemarine.net sells a excellent extender that fits fly reels/rods too.

For you flush rod holder I have sen quite a few things done with PVC. I could not find it bit the neated thing I saw was two in one where the had a small pvc in the flush mount the using a T and elbow joint the connected another part.

This I did find by doing a search here on KFS and it is also pretty neat. Will give you an idea any way.

I built some extenders for my flush mounts from PVC - what you see in the photo is 1 1/4" PVC connected to a section of 1 1/2" PVC with threaded male-female transitions. (The extender does come apart, but it's not needed to). A cap at the end of the 1 1/4" keeps it nice and snug in the flush mount - works great. Extension is about 6'7" long. OK, so I painted them to match the yak...

Jay,

This is not exactly what I was talking about but very similar. Ran across it today in another forum.
