I'm coming down to LBI this Thurs - Sunday with the family to visit family for my semi-annual visit. I will sneak in as much fishing time as possible. I've got a 14' Manta Ray that I've used a fair amount in freshwater since I got it about a year ago, but I've never had it in the salt. I'll be staying 2 houses from the beach at Ship Bottom, so surf fishing is an easy option, especially after dark while the family sleeps, but yaking up some fish is appealing. I posted a similar message about this time last year, and a couple of you offered up a spot for weakies, but the weather ended up not cooperating. Also, I understand it, the weakies may not be worth it this year. Thoughts on species/tactics/locations?

Thanks in advance.

Barneget inlet is worth the walk - bring eels and clams - even some greenies for a blackfish.

The surf at night has potential. I might be there sat @ 2am trying for croakers - but always have a pole or 2 out for a bass. I hope to liveline spots or small kingfish if they bight. Bunker if not. Maybe live peanuts.

Might some sharks in the wash as well.

Kayaking is good by the light but fluke is closed. Boat traffic is a challenge.

I launched in the surf from ship bottom this summer when calm. It is always beautiful. Often adult bunker to snag and drop. Bass will bite better at night until bait starts to migrate.
