The Spanish Mackerel video is from a tournament in South Africa. The seas that day were rough and quite manly, Luna. If you'd watched the whole thing you could have viewed some Mackerel. I don't know if they are a different type in that area than what you are used to in Florida? They must indeed be Spanish Mackerel if the fishermen on the boat won several divisions in the competition.
I just enjoyed seeing the fishing and watching their technique. Nice work!

GFG, I believe "Fart" has an issue with semantics... The critters in the vid look more like, what we would call, king mackerel than spanish and the spanish I've caught sure don't grow to that length...
What say ye Punisher?

Actually, the Saffas call Spanish Mackerel "Cuta." I learned that from SA spearfishing videos.
Instead of splitting hairs on species, I just like looking at the pretty pictures and enjoy seeing the guys having such a productive tourney. Woo! Makes me happy when I look outside and see all the ice and snow.
OK, the beach is dark and black what happened :IDK:
Ok what are the advantages of the wing vs a full tour blade - distance paddling , what

CPP, for general paddling absolutely nothing. The standard European style paddle is far more versitile and forgiving than a wing. A wing also does not allow you to do a lot of the bracing strokes you do with a standard paddle.
From a racing perspective a wing will generally give a few tenths more on the top end, but to do so, every stroke has to be pretty much identical to the last one. A wing is a very narrowly focused sort of disciplined thing. They can be a real pain in the ass in white water and washing machine chop also... Definitely not the kind of paddle to use to control a kayaks manuverability. They are a go straight as fast as you can paddle only. A paddle that traditionally has to be spun at a slightly faster, steady rate as compared to a traditional European style touring blade...
They also suck when it comes to "stop and go" paddling...
If you want to learn proper stroke technique it's good to have a wing because they force you to do a stroke "right". But for all around, normal paddling, for most people they offer no benefit at all...
They are also significantly harder on the shoulder joints...
Thanks Odin , man from da north :worship: After reading your educational comments, I think I will stick with my tour blades

hey Odin,
I noticed you have your list of yaks at bottom of page...you have'nt even gotten the QVC and you've already demoted the Kaskazis to 2 and 3 on the totem poll...what's up with that? If you tell me it looked better that way, I'll understand...and to put the II below the original. The shame it must feel.:D

You never fail to dissapoint lconn!!!:worship::worship:
The space gets larger in the picture as you go down top to bottom, so the longer name has to be on the bottom.
But, that being said, for me personally and my sizing, I do so happen to prefer "paddling" the original Dorado during the warmer months...
But for sitting around and fishing in a small area all day during the cold water months where I have to wear a ton of gear, the extra room of the DII makes it the kayak of choice!
I am paying off the QCC today, so I may have it built and delivered sooner than I planned... I don't know how well I will adjust to a sit in kayak. But learning the skills required to use one such as rolling and such can only be considered a positive in the long run!

Once you learn this technique and commit it to muscle memory, don't forget which boat you're in! :arol::arol: :drown:
And Odin, when your paddling and rolling your QCC remember to wear your 'Roll Over Alert' necklace so someone can come to your assistance should you roll over and you can't get back Up/on. :D

Red-Blue... Only two months and 14 days left to go!!!:banana::arol:
Made the final credit card payment today and changed the order so that the coaming around the cockpit and the thigh braces will be yellow, and everything else on the kayak is artic white seat and trim.
Now I will know where I am supposed to sit!!:arol::arol::bang:
Odin Now I will know where I am supposed to sit!! yea right.. we hear ya..

Such an optimist! :sm::sm: From your accounts, I figure the delivery truck might not make it!

:arol::arol: It might not. As a matter of fact, when my ski was delivered it took an extra two weeks because one of the pickups broke down and they had to get someone else to make the trip.
When I got my first Dorado delivered, Steve of KFS was very proud to inform me that his Ford pickup truck that he uses for deliveries, has over 300,000 miles on it's original engine...:up::banana::darkbeer::arol:
I would add at least another month to my last posts esitimate!!:arol::arol::arol:

Say what?!?? :maul: :maul:
I was miles away from this thread, making my way to the coffee maker when I heard Loki's banter in the background...
I'm not the sick-pup with a garage full of glassed boats who's estimated street value would make any weed smokin' basket-case about as happy as the proverbial pig in schitt!! Hell Reds, you coulda paid off my son's loan on his Rumble Bee!!
And what is all this noise about your "man feeleings"??!?? Yer starting to act more like a Bi-Queen than the ViKing I met last year!! :arol: :arol: :arol:
Go have a pint of meade, take a 15 mile paddle and when you cool off we can talk! Well, you can talk... To the hand... :sm: :sm: :sm: ...
