That was just plain sad. I thought I was viewing a third world nation. Will have to watch, the series starts on April 21st PBS. Can't even fathom what 3rd world countries are doing, hey its' only water.

Ship, thanks for the heads up. Frontline consistently produces great documentaries and although it addresses issues that some of us are already familiar with, the publicity and attention they garner from such documentaries can only help.

Yeah sure enough, people like us are aware and upset about many things happening in the waterways, lakes, and oceans around us. The more the media makes it aware to regular folks the better.
Pass it on.

The only way we are ever going to clean up this world, is to eliminate the majority of the human population...number one reason this world is getting as bad as it is...way to many people and its not going to get better, just worse.

Well, finished watching Poisoned Waters about half an hour ago. If you missed it, try to catch a rebroadcast. It does present a very dour dire picture. My initial favorite jackass was the shill for the chicken industry Bill Souderfeld (sic) on the Chesapeake's Eastern shore. But he was later joined by those Washington State residents in the Pacific Northwest who were all in favor of environmental regulations until it actually meant that they couldn't clear cut some of their property because of the damage storm water run off was creating. That's what it's all about - we're in favor of this solution and that solution until it means we have to sacrifice something ourselves. Meanwhile, big business runs amok and creates havoc. Message - we're all responsible and guilty.

If you go to the Frontline web site on PBS you can view it on line.
Really, for those of us who have watched the decline of the Chesapeake in our lifetimes and the increasing pollution, not to mention the commercial overfishing and destruction of the oyster beds and crab population declines, there was not much new. The unfortunate aspect of all this is that if they ever DO manage to clean up the chicken problem in Maryland, Perdue will just move to another state and do it all over again. Frank truly was an ugly man. |
