Good justification for utilising an internal waterproof fish storage bag or hold that is sealed at the hatch opening. Worst case you get a couple of gallons in the bag rather than have it get into the hull proper. Mixed with the ice in the bag it should result in a great cold slurry for keeping those fish nice and fresh.
