Only one lure and fly have ever worked so well they were banned. Known only as "The Lure" and "The Fly" (they were never given market names), they were so deadly that the Gordon Company which designed them, never released them. They were granted the only non military secret patent ever awarded by the United States, by Presidential decree.

Boy do I feel stupid. I guess that's how things get out of control on the internet. I did a quick search and the Peter Budryck article came up with the phrase.

Of course I was WAY too full of myself for finding the "answer" that I failed to read the article carefully enough. I was lulled into it because I had read the other thread about someone receiving their Striper Magnet kit.

Hat's off to Tad for being more thorough and better informed!

By the By, Angler, the striper seen in my avatar was caught one fine evening in August off of Marconi Beach up your way. Haven't been back in a while but I'm looking forward to fishing Herring Cove and Race Point from a Kayak someday.
