Thinking of heading back to Kars again soon and was wondering besides catching them myself do any bait stores carry Blue Shells ? Can they be purchased in grocery/fish stores uncooked dead(frozen) or alive. I suppose I could get off my lazy a$$ and drive down to the local shops and ask. The last red I caught at Kars was dead sticking a new penny gulp shrimp so I would figure a nice half crab should also do the trick.

Most fish mongers sell blue crabs live or frozen, but they're generally the bigger ones, not the small ones that generally thought of as redfish bait.

Go to a fish market that sells live blue crabs and they'll usually give you all the dead smelly ones you care to haul away. They make great bait and chum.
If anyone wants to know my blue crab chum making technique, all you have to do is ask!!!

Luna, I can't really remember the technique. Why don't we meet in front of I Fishhead's house and you can show me the proper technique.

One of the first things I read on this forum. Thanks for the memory test.

I've used Luna's chum method quite a few times.
I do know around here the fresh seafood places all carry blue crabs. I never have to use them though as I can catch them right off my dock. |

The good news is that once you're finished with the sheet of plywood, you can leave it in whoever's neighborhood you're in, just in case someone there needs a hurricane shutter, or an outdoor dining table.

Bnz...I can stroll into the Golden Rule fish market near me and walk out with two 5-gallon bucketfuls of dead smelly blue crabs most anytime I want.
Hey Sadlers, I can mail you some if you want!!! Hope you don't mind if I send them book rate!!
