Fishing Round Island

Fishhead, what were the tides doing that day? When Fishon and I were there last, it was dead.
Also, for tidal station, do you use Ft. Pierce inlet and add some time?

Sailor ... for weather and tides I use "Oslo, FL" ... We had a strong outgoing being slack around 8 AM .

But you fish when you can.

I hate to bring up an old post but this place looks real nice!!! Please tell me, camping is allowed on that beach?

Fishheads out of town ,but you will be his best friend if you go camping there with him.he's always trying to get someone to camp there.

Really? I would definitely be up for it!! I'm willing to camp anywhere and everywhere I can find... especially near good fishing grounds. I just don't know where camping is legal aside from WMAs, parks, ect...

Shooter all those spoil islands from Ft Pierce north in the Indian River are campable and are first come first serve. No permit required.

Check on it though because I haven't looked at the regs in quite some time.

Some of the spoil islands are "no access" due to nesting birds. Last time I was there I looked at the signboard on the island straight across from the boat ramp and it has a map on it that had the islands marked by use.

Round Island has become too popular. I was fishing out of there two weeks ago and there must have been well over 60 kayaks out on the water in large groups. There are 5-6 services running kayaks tours and rentals using that area for launch.

The islands to the south of RI, east of the ditch are the camping islands with sandy beaches to pull up on. One island around Harbor Branch has been cleaned off with picnic tables and such installed. Doesn't look to be camper friendly. Camping is limited as space is somewhat sparse and somewhat of a first come first served and SOL if taken. Don't be surprised to see kayak groups take over the beach landings from time to time. I saw a gator on one of those islands a few months back, so beware.
