Default Estero Bay/River & Lovers Key

I was going to go to Tomoka State Park, at the end of the month. But the situations changed abit, and instead me and girl are heading to Koreshan State Historic Site. I've never been here, let alone fished it. I've read some good things about the Estero Bay though. The river itself is kind of hard finding info on. There's also the Lovers Key area which I've found some stuff about but it's kind of vague.

Any thoughts from anyone here?

I used to go all the time, at the south end of Lovers Key (cant remember if its New or Blind Pass) there is a bridge, its the pass past the boatramp on the east side to go into Estero, go to the south west side of the bridge and launch there, its a small sand area so no boats to contend with if it hasnt changed, snook early along both sides of the wall around the bridge and trout in front of you as you launch and west towards the point, the whole area on the south side iof the channel has grass and ranges from 2-5 ft depending on tide, you will see a point when u look left, fish all around there as well...
..... The north side of the bridge on the west side has a concrete wall with a sharp drop that will hold big snook all the wa around the bend with down trees and such, if the water is moving fast use something that will get down to them....
I really never went into Estero, other guys will know the area alot better than me, but when i go, about twice a year, this is where i fish, hope it helps and good luck.....
I fish therefore i am

I paddled the river from the Koreshan site once- OK but not worth the drive. Didn't look very fishy either. Lots of better places to launch from Lovers Key. If you go past Mound Key (worth a stop- it was the local Calusa Indian capital with 2-story high shell mounds) you can paddle up the Estero river a little. Check out maps on the Calusa Blueway
