Kokatat SuperNova Paddling Suit

I've been using my Super Nova and I love it. It is very light. I can see myself being comfortable with shorts and a t-shirt underneath on a warm day and just layering with fleece when it gets cold. The suit is called a semi-dry because the neck isn't designed for submersion. I had gotten a couple reports of the zippers leaking so I called up Kokatat. They said that it's very important to make certain that the zipper is closed properly. I hadn't submerged the suit so I went down to my local lake and sat in the water for 5 minutes with the water half way up my chest. I got out of the water and I was perfectly dry. I zipped it up again and went back in for another 5 minutes and no leaking. The mango color I chose also gives me the added visibility on the water I want.

The suit has some great features. The neck is very comfortable since it isn't latex. The neck opening is a super-stretch neoprene with a hook-and-loop adjustment to help keep a snug fit. Since I'll always be wearing a PFD there isn't any way that my head can end up under and let water in. The wrists are latex, which makes them waterproof. They have Velcro closures over the latex. The booties are the same material as the rest of the suit and are much more comfortable than having ankle gaskets and there isn't any seam to fail. Also being thin I don't need a second pair of boots to fit over neoprene booties. The suit has a relief  zipper so I don't have to take it off when nature calls. With the long diagonal chest zipper it's much easier to get in and out of this suit than a dry top. Considering that I don't have to put on waders either it's really fast to get on and off. This is the perfect suit for my needs and kayak fishing. With suits like this one from other companies going for well over $500, this is a great bargain.

This suit gives me protection from the elements and allows me to be out on the water in comfort  anytime of year.
