Anthracite Outfitters North Branch Susquehanna River St. Patrick's Day 2010 report

The walleye bite is rock'n on jigs up here on the North Branch of the Susquehanna River in Northeast PA. We weren't targeting them either. We were fishing for northerns and musky as this is prime time for those beasts on jigs.

I couldn't put the kayak in as the North Branch of the Susquehanna river is crank'n. As soon as it hits the 15' mark, on the gauge I attached the link to, the fish are in for it!!! Anthracite Outfitters will be ready to go.          River levels

This is the "edge" I was swinging with the jig. It took about 30seconds to hit bottom on a cast quartered up current with a 1/2oz. jig on 10# tensile Power pro. I was on a mud bluff 15' above the water.

This is what had me salivating. Check out the seam. I'm going back tomorrow for sunrise to hopefully hit a morning bite. I'll be throwing 1oz-2oz bucktails to hold the lower column and hopefully tweak a northern or musky. I saw a 10# channel cat come up on a jig so they're move'n too.  The North Branch of the Susquehanna River is getting ready to really take off for this season.

When I got to "my" spot" this dude, Mike, was already there. Kick @$$ angler and cool as could be!!!

While the catch'n was good, meeting cool people was the bomb!!!

Can't wait for the North Branch of the Susuquehanna river to tone down on the volume so I can safely get after it with the kayak. I counted 5 trees floating by that were easily 25'-30'. I'm half tempted to disguise myself as a Susquehanna Fishing Magazine and stow myself away in the back of  John "Toast" Oast's go kart so I can get after shad with him this weekend...LMFAO!!!

The North Branch of the Susquehanna river is fish'n, and so am I, but if I were to launch the kayak... Let's just say I aint ready to die!!!
